Strengthening Collaboration Between MKS Graduate Program and Sekolah Rakyat Purwomartani in Developing Social Entrepreneurship Character

A strategic meeting between the Master’s Program in Social Welfare (MKS) and Sekolah Rakyat Purwomartani Yogyakarta was held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Principal’s office. The meeting was attended by the Principal of Sekolah Rakyat Purwomartani, Mrs. Reti Sudarsih, the Vice Principal for Academic Affairs, Mrs. Dianita, and a representative from the MKS program, Aryan Torrido. The discussion took place in a warm and collaborative atmosphere, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening education through a social empowerment approach. The main agenda of the meeting was to discuss the continuation of MKS involvement in the development of Sekolah Rakyat, which has been initiated since 2025. In the previous year, MKS contributed through training programs for teachers, particularly in strengthening social welfare perspectives within the learning process. These initiatives were considered impactful in enhancing teachers’ capacity to better understand students’ social conditions.

In 2026, this collaboration is planned not only to continue the existing training programs but also to expand its focus on developing social entrepreneurship character within the school environment. This initiative aims to equip students with values of independence, creativity, and social awareness in facing future socio-economic challenges. The approach remains empowerment-based, ensuring that students are not merely objects of education, but active agents of change capable of creating social impact.

Through this meeting, both parties reaffirmed the importance of synergy between higher education institutions and community-based schools in creating inclusive and sustainable education models. The MKS program is committed to continuously supporting the development of Sekolah Rakyat as part of its tri dharma of higher education, particularly in community engagement and the development of social entrepreneurship-based innovations.
