The Head of the Master’s Program in Social Welfare, Muh. Ulil Abshar, Ph.D, together with the Head of the Bachelor’s Program in Social Welfare, Muh. Izzul Haq, Ph.D, represented the field of Social Welfare at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta in the National Curriculum Review on Social Welfare organized by the Association of Indonesian Schools of Social Welfare (ASPEKSI). The event was held in Jakarta from September 26 to 28, 2025.

This forum was attended by representatives from all undergraduate (S1) and graduate (S2) Social Welfare programs across Indonesia. Participants discussed the alignment of the national curriculum with current academic developments, labor market needs, and national policy directions in the field of social welfare. The gathering provided a valuable platform for collaboration among higher education institutions to strengthen the academic standards of social welfare education in Indonesia. UIN Sunan Kalijaga held a significant position in this event, as its Master’s Program in Social Welfare is currently the only program of its kind in the provinces of Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). This participation underscores the university’s leadership and contribution in advancing social welfare education and research in the region.

Through this curriculum review, it is expected that stronger synergy will be established among universities, professional organizations, and policymakers to enhance the competencies of social welfare graduates. UIN Sunan Kalijaga remains committed to actively contributing to academic excellence and the professional development of social workers in Indonesia, supporting the realization of a just and sustainable social welfare system.
