Magister of Social Welfare Lecturers Welcome Visit from BRIN Population Studies Center
The Master’s Program in Social Welfare at UIN Sunan Kalijaga welcomed an official visit from the Population Studies Center of BRIN on Thursday, 20 November 2025. The meeting, held in the Conference Room of the Faculty of Da'wah from 08.30 to 11.00 AM, served as an initial step in exploring a potential research collaboration between the two institutions.
The BRIN delegation was led by Meirina Ayumi, Ph.D, a senior researcher and coordinator of future studies at BRIN. The visit was warmly received by lecturers of the Master’s Program in Social Welfare, including Muh. Ulil Abshor, Ph.D, Rofah, Ph.D, and Dr. Aryan Torrido, who represented the program in strategic discussions on long-term academic cooperation. During the meeting, both parties explored opportunities for collaboration within the “Rupa Future Society” Research Program, an upcoming research agenda designed to analyze societal transformations in Indonesia for 2026 and beyond. The program is planned as a multiyear initiative that requires interdisciplinary perspectives, including social welfare studies as one of its key analytical pillars.
The BRIN team explained that “Rupa Future Society” focuses on themes such as social transformation, demographic shifts, family resilience, and societal adaptation to technological developments. The lecturers from the Social Welfare program welcomed the initiative and expressed readiness to contribute through research grounded in community empowerment, social participation, and social policy analysis. A dynamic discussion followed, covering research design, international publication opportunities, and potential involvement of graduate students in the research activities. BRIN also appreciated the program’s enthusiasm for collaboration and emphasized that integrating social welfare perspectives would significantly enrich the research program.
The meeting concluded with an initial commitment to draft a more detailed collaboration framework in the near future. The Master’s Program in Social Welfare looks forward to strengthening its contribution to national strategic research while expanding academic involvement in shaping knowledge-based development for the future.
