MKS Program Promotes the Strengthening of the AKSES Alumni Network in Jakarta

The Master's Program in Social Welfare (MKS) of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta took part in the alumni gathering organized by the Social Welfare Association (AKSES) of the Jabodetabek chapter. This event took place on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Rumah Daharan Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, and served as a space for building rapport and strengthening networks between the alumni and the study program. The involvement of the MKS Program was evident through the presence of the Head of the MKS Program, M. Ulil Absor, Ph.D., who participated in a discussion and sharing session alongside the Head of the Undergraduate IKS Program, Muhammad Izzul Haq, Ph.D., and Prof. Dr. H. Waryono, the first Head of the IKS Program (2009–2012 period) who currently serves as the Director of Waqf and Zakat at the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs. The presence of the study program's leadership demonstrates a commitment to maintaining sustainable relationships with alumni across various regions.

The event was attended by approximately 20 alumni from various cohorts, ranging from 2009 to 2021. The series of events began with an opening, introductions among alumni, and welcoming remarks from the resource persons. A warm and friendly atmosphere characterized the event, which was then followed by a casual discussion and sharing session. In the forum, the Head of the MKS Program also shared his views on the importance of strengthening alumni networks as part of a mutually supportive academic ecosystem. The involvement of the MKS Program in this event also serves as an effort to open up collaborative spaces between alumni and the study program, both in scientific development and social contributions.

Meanwhile, Agung Prastowo, Chairman of the AKSES Advisory Board and an alumnus from the first IKS cohort (2009), expressed the importance of formulating measurable goals for the alumni organization so that AKSES can provide more optimal benefits. At the end of the meeting, the participants agreed to make this alumni gathering a regular and periodic agenda. This agreement is expected to further strengthen ties, reinforce solidarity, and encourage sustainable collaboration between the alumni and the study programs, including the MKS Program, in supporting institutional development and contributing to society.
